Menu Plan Monday: Week of December 9, 2013
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. This weekend I realized that the honeymoon phase of feeding my girls has pretty much ended. They turn two in a month, and while they still eat Nutritiouliciously, their interest in sitting for meals and in certain foods is waning. Thankfully, I can turn to Fearless Feeding, by fellow RDs Jill Castle and Maryann Jacobsen. And according to what they say, it appears my girls are normal. That’s a relief! If you have children, or are involved in any children’s lives, you have to get this book – it’s a life saver!
Although I’m in the thick of it, I have also learned a lot of my own lessons as I go down the road of parenting. One common pattern I have found is comparisons and judgments from one mom to another about various parenting strategies, including feeding. Check out my most recent post about this, Calling All Mothers: Raising Healthy Children Without Judgment, for some tips to encourage healthy eating in kids.
In other news, this is my first week back to cooking – last week was full of leftovers and a few nights off due to holiday parties. Here’s what’s on tap this week in our house:
Week of December 9, 2013
Monday: Roasted Vegetable Lasagna and Salad
Tuesday: Roasted Salmon with Garlicky Green Beans and Sweet Potato Salad
Wednesday: Leftovers
Thursday: Ropa Vieja with Moro de Habichuela Negra (rice and black beans) and Maduros
Friday: Invited to Shabbat Dinner
What are you eating this week?
