Blog Brûlée Here I Come!

September 2, 2014

Blog brûlée conference

Disclosure: My attendance at the Blog Brûlée is partially sponsored. I have received a registration discount for my attendance in exchange for writing this pre-event post.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for the weekend of September 12-14! Ok, I’m a little nervous to be leaving the girls home alone with their daddy for the weekend, but I am anxiously anticipating what I believe will be one of the most valuable career experiences I will ever take part in. In less than two weeks I am heading to the mountains of Vermont to attend the first annual Blog Brûlée, an invitation-only, experiential conference with healthy food bloggers and registered dietitian nutritionist food bloggers, most of whom I have only had the privilege to “meet” virtually through social networking.

The masterminds behind this amazing retreat are four dietitians who are the crème de la crème of healthy food blogging and all it encompasses – food photography, recipe development, nutrition communications, food writing, food styling and more. (And two of them are co-founders of the Recipe ReDux challenge I participate in monthly!) They are: Regan Jones, Deanna Segrave-Daly, Gretchen Brown, and Robin Plotkin. I am honored they selected me as one of twenty registered dietitians to be in their company for the weekend and I can’t wait to learn from them!

So what will we be learning and doing on this fabulous weekend retreat? Here are just a few of the agenda items I am looking forward to the most (it was hard to narrow it down – every session sounds amazing!):

  • Food in Focus: Food Photography Basics with Gretchen Brown of kumquat and Regan Jones of Healthy Aperture. Just take a look at their sites and you’ll understand why this is the #1 seminar I want to attend!
  • Food Styling with Gretchen
  • Building Your Virtual Community with The Spicy RD EA Stewart
  • Show Me the Money: Monetizing Your Brand with Anne Mauney of fANNEtastic food

And of course since all of us attending are foodies at heart, the wine, cheese, and chocolate tastings don’t sound so bad either!
